SCENESTR VIDEO PREMIERE || ‘Come So Far’
Indie rock, shoegaze artist Oceans has created an uplifting, euphoric debut song in the form of 'Come So Far'.
Released last month, 'Come So Far' features washed-out drums and synth-heavy rhythms, married to the ethereal vocals of Oceans – close your eyes and allow your mind to wander wherever it needs to travel.
The moniker of Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Thomas Lee, Oceans' talent is clear to hear and hints at a bright future.
"A lot of the song was focused around creating unnatural and dreamy textures," Thomas says. "My vision was to create a huge sound using organic processes which was a really enjoyable challenge.
"Things like layering many different vocal harmonies, sending drum loops through guitar pedals and placing microphones within a bass drum created a really dreamy landscape, which resonates with the lyrical content.
"I'm a very introspective person and think a lot about the past, but memories get hazy with time which is what I'm trying to recreate with the instrumentation on the track.
"I hope that when people listen to it they can just put it on as a background to their thoughts and let their mind wander."
